Terms & Conditions

The terms governing your participation in Permata's educational programmes and your use of this website โ€” written plainly, without unnecessary legal complexity.

Last updated: 1 January 2025  ยท  Reading time: approximately 10 minutes

These terms apply to all participants in Permata's programmes and to all visitors to this website. By enrolling in a programme or using this website, you accept these terms. If you have any questions before enrolling, please write to us at [email protected] โ€” we are glad to answer them.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Permata website at permata.sbs ("the Website") and your participation in any educational programme offered by Permata ("the Programmes"). They are entered into between you and Permata, whose registered address is 132 Telok Ayer Street, #08-03, Singapore 068601.

By submitting an enquiry, completing programme registration, or using the Website, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not enrol or use the Website.

2. Nature of Our Programmes

Permata provides financial education. Our Programmes are designed to help adults develop a better understanding of personal finance, investment principles, and Singapore-specific financial structures.

Our Programmes are not regulated financial advice. Nothing communicated in our sessions, materials, or correspondence constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any financial product. Permata is not licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to provide financial advisory services.

Decisions about your personal finances remain entirely your own. Permata encourages participants to seek advice from a licensed financial adviser before making significant financial decisions.

3. Enrolment & Payment

Enrolment

Enrolment in a Programme is confirmed when Permata sends you a written confirmation of your place and payment has been received in full. We reserve the right to decline enrolment at our discretion, in which case any payment received will be returned to you in full.

Programme fees

The current fees for each Programme are:

  • Reading Companion for Beginning Investors โ€” SGD 240 (six-week programme)
  • Singapore Household Finance Programme โ€” SGD 420 (eight-week programme)
  • The Slow Portfolio Workshop โ€” SGD 760 (twelve-session programme, fortnightly)

All fees are stated in Singapore Dollars and are inclusive of GST where applicable. Fees must be paid in full before the first session commences.

Payment methods

Details of accepted payment methods will be provided upon confirmation of your enrolment enquiry. We do not store payment card details.

Cohort sizes

Our Programmes are delivered in small cohorts of no more than twelve participants. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis once payment is confirmed.

4. Cancellation & Refunds

Cancellation by you

We understand that circumstances change. Our cancellation terms are as follows:

  • Cancellation more than fourteen calendar days before the first session: full refund, less an administrative fee of SGD 30
  • Cancellation seven to fourteen calendar days before the first session: 50% refund
  • Cancellation fewer than seven calendar days before the first session: no refund
  • Cancellation after the programme has commenced: no refund for sessions already delivered; a partial refund for remaining sessions may be considered at Permata's discretion in exceptional circumstances

To cancel, please write to us at [email protected]. Your cancellation date is the date we receive your written notice.

Cancellation or rescheduling by Permata

If Permata cancels a Programme before it commences, you will receive a full refund. If Permata reschedules a session, we will provide as much notice as possible. If a rescheduled date is not workable for you, we will offer a credit toward a future cohort or, where the rescheduling is significant, a proportionate refund.

Transfer of place

With reasonable notice and Permata's written approval, you may transfer your place to another individual. Please contact us to arrange this.

5. Participant Conduct

Our Programmes are delivered in a spirit of calm, mutual respect. Participants are expected to:

  • Engage with the materials and discussions in good faith
  • Treat fellow participants, facilitators, and Permata staff with courtesy
  • Refrain from recording sessions without the written consent of Permata and all other participants
  • Not share session recordings, transcripts, or programme materials with third parties without Permata's written permission

Permata reserves the right to remove a participant from a Programme, without refund, if their conduct is materially disruptive or harmful to the experience of others. This is a measure we would exercise only in serious circumstances.

6. Course Materials

Session recordings are made available to enrolled participants for personal reference during and for thirty days after the conclusion of their Programme cohort. After this period, recordings are deleted.

Written materials provided during a Programme may be retained by participants for personal use. They may not be reproduced, distributed, or used commercially without Permata's written permission.

Where Programmes recommend third-party books, the cost of acquiring those books is not included in the programme fee. A reading list will be provided at the outset of each Programme.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this Website, including text, design, structure, and original written materials, is the intellectual property of Permata unless otherwise stated. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any content from this Website or from our Programmes for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.

Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

8. Website Use

You may use this Website for lawful purposes only. You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Website or its underlying systems
  • Transmit unsolicited communications or malicious code through the Website
  • Use the Website in a way that may harm, disrupt, or impair its availability to other users

This Website is provided on an "as is" basis. While we take care to ensure the accuracy of the information it contains, we do not warrant that the content is free from error, complete, or up to date at all times. We are not responsible for the content of external websites to which we may link.

9. Liability

Permata's total liability to you arising from or in connection with a Programme or these Terms is limited to the programme fee you have paid to us.

Permata is not liable for any loss or damage you suffer as a result of decisions you make about your own finances, whether or not those decisions were influenced by our Programmes. Our Programmes provide education, not advice, and all financial decisions remain your responsibility.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law in Singapore.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms or our Programmes shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

We will always endeavour to resolve any concern informally before any formal process is necessary. If you have a complaint or concern, please contact us first at [email protected].
